News Values:
My story will be about cyberbullying and children. I would like to cover a major basis of this theme. So I will cover why people do it, who it affects and how to prevent it. My story will focus on how you can prevent cyberbullying but I will include samples of actual cyberbullying. I will include these so children know what to look out for and to help them stop it before it gets too bad. I will also include facts, and statistics (correct and sourced) to inform the viewer more as well. I believe that this will be a good news story as it is relevant for the current time and it is an issue which I believe is growing and needs to be stopped. I also believe that because of the informing nature of the story, it has the potential to save lives.

Hyperbole:
My story could cause moral panic if I used a hyperbole (a statement not meant to be taken seriously) as it may confuse the audience and make them think something could happen when it wont. To stop this I will make sure that all of my statements are correct and serious.
Emotive Language:
Emotive Language is when words evoke an emotion. To prevent this I will make sure that I use basic words and test it to make sure it doesn't upset children.
Superlatives:
I will make sure my content is of good quality and it wont confuse anyone into thinking something is being sad/displayed when it isn't.
Images:
I will use images which are safe for all viewers, if I have to use an image which isn't, I will have to censor it.

My story could cause moral panic, I will have to do a few things to prevent this. This show is aimed at children so I have to make the language easy, and the story needs to be censored so it doesn't make the young viewer scared/sad. Images will have to be safe for children and all statements need to be clear and factual.

- Why did I choose the people I chose for interview? The people who I choose for the interview was a young teenager (Typically exposed to Cyber-Bullying) and an adult parent. I chose these people because they are very representative of this issue of Cyber-Bullying, a young teenager may have experienced it, or knows people who have. And they are relatable to the audience as he is at the age of my target audience for the show. The older adult would also be quite representative to the audience, this is because they are the other audience which I am aiming for, and they would also typically be present in a young teenagers life.
- Do you think their contribution was important? I think that the people who I interviewed in this primary research were very important to my planning and creation of my sequence. This is because the interview will provide content for me to air and also discuss on the actual show. The interviews talk about personal experiences which in end make the entire segment more personal and professional as it can create relatable and personal content. I defiantly feel that the interview with the 'teenager' was significantly more important than the interview with the parent as this would be more relatable to the audience and also have more factually correct statements which back up my delivery of this story and issue. So, all of these factors will hopefully appeal more the audience and make the show more professional.
- Were they the right people to interview? I definitely feel that they were the right people to interview for my show and also for my target audience. This is because they are relatable to the audience and they also have experiences and pre-existing knowledge about the topic at hand. The teenager has first hand experience with cyberbullying and was able to give an insight on what it was like and also describe what there is available to help anybody in a similar situation. Also, the parent in the interview was also a right person to interview for this sequence. This is because he understood what it is like to have children who have experienced bullying and also he was able to provide helpful information which could be seen by the parent audience watching the show.
- Relevance of your story to its target audience and broadcaster: I defiantly feel that my story portrayed in these interviews were relevant to my target audience and also to the planned broadcaster for my show. This is because they are idilic ages to represent the target audience, this is because the teenager represents the typical audience member for the show and he also is at the age where someone is typically cyber bullied. Also, Newround's typical interviewees and actors are around this age so they easily represent the broadcasting channel. The parent is also quite relevant, but I wouldn't say he was as relevant as the teenager. This is because the teenager would appeal to the target audience more. However, the parent would typically be in the target audience's life so it is a figure that they can recognise and relate to as they would typically have a parent. They aren't as reperesnetitive for the broadcaster, this is because the show is typically made up of younger actors and presenters so they aren't as represented and therefore aren't as relevant.
Accuracy of your story
- How can you couch that your story is 100% accurate? I can vouch that my news story will be 100% accurate because I will make sure that all of my sources are backed up and researched. I will use reliable websites such as ones regulated by the government to ensure that I am getting accurate information. I will also double research a source. For example, if I find out some information stating something, I will go and see if I can find another reliable source either confirming or denying that statement. If they multiple reliable sources agree with such statement, then I will know that that bit of information is accurate and reliable. I will also make sure that I don't use website such as Wikipedia for sourcing information as they are renowned for proving information with can be seen as sensational or un-reliable. This way I will get accurate and viable information to air in my show.
Validity
- Are the stories finding valid and factually sound? I defiantly know and feel that my stories and findings are factually sound, this is because I will back up every bit of research that I do with reliable sources. I will double check facts that I find and only use reliable websites to ensure that all of the information which I am obtaining is 100% factual and accurate. This way my final aired sequence will be valid and factually sound.
Accessibility
- How will you write your story so that your target audience will understand it and at the same time be challenged by it? I will make sure that my story which I air will be understandable for my target audience and that it will challenge them and make them think about what they are viewing. To do this I will; write the content with short and simple compound sentences which are understandable for the audience. The vocabulary will be a bit 'Simplified', which will make it easer for the target audience to understand it. This is all so that my target audience are able to understand what I am trying to tell them, say to them and how they want to interpret the information which I am providing them. I feel that they will be challanged by the story as it makes them think about morals behind social media and cyber-bullying, I also using statistics and information provided by other sources. So therefore they have to challenge themselves to understanding and interpriting the facts and figures that I present to them.
Quality
- Do you think your sources are of good quality? How do you know this? I know that my sources are of good quality, this mainly comes down to my reliable research in accurate and verified places. All of the sources I gather are from professional sites where they are discussing information which they are verified by other to be 100% accurate. Also, I make sure that every bit of information that I find is double backed up to ensure that all the statements and information that I find is correct and of 100% accuracy. My interviews are also of good quality, this is because they are from people who have experience bullying either first or second hand. They have had to deal with issues themselves as well as seeing them happen to other people. This means that they can give a true representation and provide information of high quality.

- If the story was written for a newspaper, would help sell papers? if so, how? I feel that there is a possibility that this story could help to sell newspapers, this is mainly because it is a wide spread problem and lots of people know of the issues surrounding it. Also, it effects people from different ages and social groups so there is a wide spread possible representation which could be accustomed to through a newspaper. The story could also cause moral panic, which means that the newspapers would be sold quickly because of its 'shock value'. However, I feel that the story may not sell newspaper because of my delivery approach to the story. As the story is aimed at a younger target audience, I am not likely to be able to represent the older target audience throughout this story. So, it would be hard to represent the typical audience for a newspaper through a story written for a children based audience.
