Self evaluation of the pitch:
After looking back at my presentation and the pitch, I believe there are a few things that I would change in what I said and to improve the overall presentation. Firstly, I didn't provide all of the information that I had planned for the pitch, which means that the client wasnt as informed as I had wished them to be. I belive this is down to being nervous when presenting and I felt like I had rushed what I was saying. To crack down on this issue, I think that I should practice the pitch multiple times to an audience and also improve on my notation. This is becasue my notation was written in depth, and not in note from. So I was trying to read instead or retaining the information and using bullet points to remind me.
Anothing I feel could be improved with the pitch is the documentation, this is because some of the slides were hard to read. Some of the text was really small and this wouldn't be easy for the client to read, to improve on this, I will utilise other space and slides to ensure that the client can read the information I had provided and also get a better understanding of what I am saying. This also happens in another slide, in my introduction slide, I have a lot of information on the slide, which can be very distracting. To improve this, I can make the points much shorter (bullet point form), and have the information to read on my notation, which means I am not tempted to read the information from the slide.
Other than what I stated above, I feel that my presentation went well, I was able to present the planned information and provide example documentation to the client. Which means the client was able to give feedback and tips on how to improve my ideas ready for the pre-production process. Which means I will be able to create a show which is perfect for the BBC3 (conforming to its remit and requirements), and also have a product which will be ideal for the target audience.

Questions asked in the Pitch:
Q1 - What other ventures could your show develop into?
I belive that my show 'Catch Me' could definatly develop into other media products/vetunres, one key venture being a comic. These could be created surrounding other characters which arent as seen or developed in the show. For example, the character from my show 'Thomas', has a father who is a natorious gangster and rapper from East London. In the comic, we could develop a back-story surrounding this character as it is something which wouldnt be as discused in the show. There could be several comics covering other secondary characters and then they could also give more infromation of the storyline in the main show. This will then give the audeince a further understanding and idea of the unvierse being created in this series and allow the audeince to get gain a larger attachment to the show and its characters.
Q2 - How did the target audience feedback shape your ideas?
The first idea I tested on the target audience was the fonts and name for the title, I did this so when the show is advertised to the audience, they can be quickly attracted to the show as it has been proven to be something that they will like to look at. To test this on the target audience, I created a questionnaire for them to fill out. I ensured that this questionnaire was sent to the target audience only, as this is who it is targeted for. I did this by messaging people who are of the age range 15 - 21 and also in the demographic targeted for the show. This means that I would get an accurate result for comparison to the target audience. In the questionnaire, I included different title names for the show along with the synopsis for the show, which means that the respondent will be able to understand why each title has been chosen. Then once they had chosen which title name they preferred, then I went onto font for the title, which is very important when targeting my show. The results of the questionnaire has helped me to further understand what the target audience want from my show, and I am able to create content more specific to their needs. For example, considering the font used in the title, I can now use the same font throughout the show without worrying that it wont appeal to the target audience.
The second idea idea I tested on the target audience was the character profiles, I created a focus group with target audience respondents, meaning I got an accurate representation of what the target audience wants. First thing I did was show them the characters I had planned to create for the show, one by one I discussed a few questions with the respondents.
The questions were:
Extra information provided by the client:
After my I presented my pitch, I asked the client if they had any questions about what was said and my document I presented. One of the clients stated that some sections in my presentation had writing which was too small and there was big spaces on the slides, and that I should utilise the space better meaning that the next presentation is more readable and attractive to the eye. One key area in my presentation document which was effected by this was my character slide, this is because I tired to add a few characters on the same slide as well as the information for them, meaning that the written information was very small. To improve on this issue, I will ensure that I allocate a slide per character and ensure that there is enough room for all the information that needs to be provided.

The questions were:
- Would you consider this character as a good representation of teenagers now?
- Is there any improvements you would make to this character to make them more attractive/representative of the target audience?
- Would this character’s story interest you enough to make you want to watch the show, and why?

Questions asked by client not present:
Q1 - How does this programme conform to the BBC remit?
The BBC remit states that all of their programmes must “Inform, Educate and Entertain”, and I have ensured that my programme has done this. Firstly, my programme will Inform the audience about what life can be like for a teenager living in South London. They will be informed about the harsh realities which occur and what people have to live thought. To Educate my audience, I ensured that I have explained what some of the consequences of the actions and realities the characters go though, meaning that the audience gain a further understanding of what some people have to experience in life. And finally , the Entertainment aspect come from the compelling storylines and the dramatic decisions some of the characters have to make, meaning that the audience get a form of “Escapism” as they are experiencing another persons life and decisions.
Q2 - What Merchandising opportunities might the programme have to offer? What Spin-off’s could be considered if the programme becomes successful?
The show has a few different possibilities for merchandising and Spin-offs. Merchandising opportunities for this programme could include products such as comics, these could further discuss the backstories of characters, maybe some which don’t have as much information surrounding them, which means that the audience can gain a wider knowledge of the universe and the characters from Catch Me. Other Merchandising opportunities could include clothing for the show. For example, a hoodie with the title of the show on it, allowing the audience to further support the show. Spin offs which could be considered for the show could be another series, set in the same area, but around different (but similar) characters, meaning that the audience still has a connection to the show and there is a want to watch it still, but its fresh and something new for them to watch.
Q3 - How many episodes for the first series (if commissioned from the pilot)? How should we realise the episodes? Once per week on Thursdays at 9pm or all at the same time?
I would expect there to be around 10 episodes for the first seres, this will be including the pilot episode. I belive that this would be a great number of episode for the first series, this is for a few different reasons. Firstly, it will be long enough to introduce all the characters and their own stories, this is so the audience can gain a connection to the characters and the show, so they will want to see the next series. Also, as the way I plan to lay out the series, this is because it's the same storyline every episode, just from another characters perspective, and if the series was much longer, than the audience would get bored of the story as they will have seen it so many times.
Q4 - What are the Unique selling points of the programme and how could these be advertised to the target audience?
The USP of this teen drama will be how gritty and grungy the show will be showing the harsh realities of being a teenager surrounded by drugs, violence and crime. I will ensure that this will be a theme throughout the drama and that the audience understands that characters and locations like this actually exists and some of these issue could happen to anyone.

Question 1 is very relevant for my pitch because it will show the clients what they will be able to get put of the product other than just the product itself. This will show them how much money they could potentially make from the show and the product brand which will be created. Discussing this will also allow the clients to know what type of content could be made in relevance to this show as the show could be further developed into other series, or media products.
Question 2 asked about how the target audience feedback has shaped the ideas for this planned show. This is a very relevant question as the client will want to ensure that the product which is created has the target audience's needs to be considered and catered to. Having discussed with the target audience about many different features planned for the show, I will be able to ensure that the client has commissioned a product which will appeal to the target audience of the show. Question 3 asks how this show conforms to the BBC remit, this is an important and relevant question as the commissioning company will be BBC 3 and all their created shows need to conform to the BBC remit. Having a show which doesn't means that the show won't be allowed to be aired on the BBC 3 platform. Question 4 has asked what merchandising opportunities might the programme might have. This is a very relevant question as I will be creating a show which has the potential to become other products. Explaining the products which this show could develop into will allow the clients to plan the merchandising of this show and it will allow them to understand what sort of products they could develop from this show. Question 5 asks about how many episodes will be in the first series of the show. This is a relevant question for the client as this will allow them to understand how much the show will roughly cost to create for the first series. This will allow them to figure out their profits they can make from the show and what they can do to re-invest back into the show and other products from the brand which is being created. Question 6 asks about what the Unique Selling Point of the show which is a relevant question for the clients to ask. Asking this question will allow the client to create advertisement which sells the USP of the show and ensure that the content and USP of the show is relevant to the target audience.
